Organic Cashews
We always use organic cashews. We are currently researching Fair Trade organic cashew suppliers. The price and supply of FT cashews tends to fluctuate so much that we haven't started to work with FT suppliers yet, but our goal is to obtain a steady supply of FT organic cashews.
Organic Sunflower Seeds
Our sunflower seeds are always organic and nearly always US grown. Our experience has been that the US supply of organic sunflower seeds is not always a sure thing, but we are doing all we can to access and promote the US organic farmers.
Organic Tapioca Starch
We chose organic tapioca starch as our primary thickening agent because it is without question non-GMO, and it allows our products to be grain-free, which many of our special diet (allergen-free and paleo) customers appreciate.
Organic Spices
All the spices and herbs we use are organic. We use a proprietary blend of over 10 spices, and we list the spices to which some folks might be possibly sensitive, like garlic, onion and mustard.
Nutritional Yeast
Our Nutritional Yeast is supplemented with B vitamins and zinc. It is sourced from Europe, so the beet sugar is GMO-free, as is the yeast itself.
Sea Salt
Nuf said.
Xanthan Gum/Guar Gum
We use a very small amount of these thickeners to augment the tapioca. These hard working special agents are natural (Xanthan is a bacteria and Guar is from a bean) and unlike tapioca, they don't break down in the presence of high acid foods (think tomatoes, pickled products, citrus). Their presence allows you to add anything your heart desires to your Beyond Better sauce without losing your sauciness!
Organic Carrot Juice Powder
We use delicious, vitamin-packed organic carrot juice powder to add color and flavor to our sunflower-based products. No nasty annatto seed, or synthetic chemical beta carotene, or ground up bugs. What's not to love about that?
